Yes I agree with you but also I think the guilt was represented earlier when ma died because the father has really really wanting a son and when gave birth and died. I think that put more guilt on Billie Jo because not only did she kill her mom, the baby and ruin her hands, she ALSO killed her dads hopes of having a son.
